Start with the cash you can use
MoneySense provides budgeting resources for managing money and understanding income and expenses. For this worksheet, use the cash income actually available to you. Do not automatically add a contribution or account balance that cannot be used for the particular bill or goal you are planning.
Keep expected bonuses and reimbursements separate until the timing and amount are known. A monthly average can hide a shortfall before the next receipt. If several people share the budget, record which costs are included and avoid counting a shared payment twice.

Distinguish a savings target from property costs
A property deposit is only one possible use of savings. Put other quoted purchase costs on their own list with due dates. Numbrivโs residential Buyerโs Stamp Duty tool covers its stated basic-duty calculation only; it excludes ABSD and unsupported property circumstances.
This budget does not calculate CPF contributions, withdrawal eligibility or local tax. If any of those affect the resources available to you, establish the applicable amounts using official information separately. A projected savings balance is not a statement that funds can be used for a particular transaction.
A fictional SGD cash budget
The example reserves money for annual costs and then a specific goal contribution. It assumes all listed income is usable cash and all figures are in SGD. No CPF allocation, investment return, duty assessment or exchange conversion is included.
| Monthly allocation | SGD |
|---|---|
| Take-home income | $6,000.00 |
| Regular cash expenses | $3,300.00 |
| Existing payments | $500.00 |
| Annual costs: 7,200 รท 12 | $600.00 |
| Available after listed costs | $1,600.00 |
| Chosen goal contribution | $1,000.00 |
| Unallocated after that contribution | $600.00 |
With no assumed growth and no starting savings, a $12,000.00 goal takes 12 monthly contributions of $1,000.00. This excludes taxes, fees, changing prices and missed contributions.
Check each assumption before a commitment
For a fixed-date goal, divide the amount still required by the contributions you can actually make before payment is due. Test a later income receipt or a higher bill so the plan does not depend on everything happening at the best possible time.
If you use a growth calculator, keep its assumed return separate from the cash contribution you can afford. Actual investment values can change. Review the available-calculator scope and relevant official rules before using a budget total as the basis for a property or borrowing decision.
