Planning in GBP: where to start

Start with the UK salary estimate for the supported tax year, then use monthly income when comparing loan payments and regular savings. Student loans, pension choices and individual circumstances can change the result.

Compare the same costs and time period

For property, the SDLT calculator supports only its stated England and Northern Ireland circumstances. Scotland and Wales need different property-tax calculations; do not apply the SDLT result to them.

Fixed-rate loan payment in GBP

Enter your own amount and nominal annual rate. This general formula assumes equal monthly payments and excludes fees, insurance, taxes, variable rates and product-specific contract rules.

Illustrative monthly payment: £304.22

Worked example: £10,000.00 at an assumed 6% nominal annual rate over 36 months gives £304.22 per month. This rate is an example, not a United Kingdom market rate or offer.

Formula: payment = P × r / (1 − (1+r)−n), where r is the annual percentage divided by 1200 and n is months. At zero interest, payment = P/n. Use the full loan calculator.

Planned local coverage

These tools are coming soon and are not available as calculations:

Each needs its own official sources, supported circumstances and test cases before publication.

Before you compare results

Keep the currency and time period consistent. A monthly income estimate is an annual average unless the calculator explicitly models individual pay periods. The general loan and savings tools do not apply United Kingdom tax law, fees, benefit rules or investment guarantees.

Changing the display currency does not convert exchange rates or change the legal jurisdiction of a calculator. Use the dedicated local tool for the scope described above.

Sources and maintenance

What these United Kingdom tools cover

Country-specific tools are listed with their supported circumstances and source-review limits on each calculator. General planning tools use GBP display where selected; a currency change does not apply local tax, lending or product rules.

Coverage and links checked October 21, 2026. Tax-rule review dates remain specific to each model; this coverage check does not certify every local rule.
